FAQs & Sample Schedules

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How do we access camp and the unit we rented? Our Nawakwa is committed to having Camp Hosts on site while your group is there. When you arrive the Camp Host will have the front gate & building unlocked and ready for you. Contact information about your camp host will be sent out prior to your rental dates.
  2. What do I need to bring in order to prepare my meals at camp? You have full access to the kitchens in your rental units. Honor House, Chalet Lodge, and Vollhalla all have fully stocked kitchens; including cooking utensils and items you may need to prepare your meals… you only need to bring your food! Hobbs Dining Hall has a fully stocked Commercial Kitchen. All 3-Season Rental Units do not have kitchen facilities and will have to prepare for outdoor cooking on fire-rings. (Please take ALL left-over food items with you when you leave!)
  3. Is there a fire ring and outdoor cooking equipment at my unit? Honor House, Chalet, Vollhalla, Timbercrest, and Millie’s/Picnic Point all have fire rings. Outdoor cooking tools such as cooking grates, marshmallow forks, pudgy pie irons, dutch ovens, can be found in your unit or in the Office at Hobbs.
  4. Will there be firewood available to use? Firewood is stocked in the fire “shelters” near each fire ring.  Please use any fallen sticks or twigs in the area for kindling. Please also ensure you have a water bucket filled and next to the fire when it is lit. Please never leave a fire unattended, or leave minors unattended near a fire.
  5. Do I need to bring linens or towels? Linens are not provided so you will need to provide your own sleeping bags (or sheets with blankets work just as well), and towels. There are wash rags in each facility. Please follow the instructions on the check-out cleaning sheet regarding where to up those at the end of your stay.
  6. What if we are planning on using the waterfront (swimming or boating) during our stay? You will need to verify that you have a Red Cross Certified Lifeguard over the age of 18 who will serve as Waterfront Director. It’s imperative that you and your waterfront director read and understand the waterfront policy at: https://ournawakwarentalportal.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/rental_waterfront-policy.pdf
  7. Do we need to bring our own First Aid kit? YES! Please bring your own First Aid kit to ensure you have the resources you need for your group.
  8. What other policies do we need to be aware of? Please refer to our Rental Policies at the following link (https://ournawakwarentalportal.org/camp-nawakwa-cornell-wi/rental-policies/) if you have any other questions, or reach out to property@ournawakwa.org
  9. What can we do while we are at camp? There are so many activities available to you at Camp Nawakwa. You can hike the Ice Age Trail, swim or boat in Picnic Lake, doing an art project from the Art in Nature space. Check out these schedules from previous groups who have enjoyed time at Camp Nawakwa!
